Kanye West Massacres 50 Cent in Album Sales
Imagine this, three weeks before the release of your third studio album, Forbes releases a list of the highest earning hiphop monguls of the American music industry and you spot the number 2 position with 32million dollars next to Jay z with P Diddy following at Number 3.
Meanwhile Kanye West is at number 8th position with 17million dollars (1 Point for 50 cent).
Weeks later you do a remix of your hit track “I got money” featuring Jay Z and P Diddy talking about how much money you guys got.
Then all of a sudden, 9/11 is approaching, whilst those who lost their loved ones on that unfortunate day are preparing for the memorial ceremony, 50 cent and Kanye West are in their cribs praying hard to beat the other in the week’s music sales.
A week before 9/11, SOHH conducts a survey to determine who will make more sales on 9/11 and Kanye West Wins.
50 cent also goes on air, saying he will quit music if Kanye West outsells him.
Like an election poll, a week after 9/11 hip hop music fans are waiting patiently for the hip hop polls, 50 cent or Kanye.
Then there are such great headlines, Kanye West’s ‘Graduation’ bests 50 Cent’s ‘Curtis’, Kanye West Murders 50 Cent (Saleswise That Is…), Kanye Beats 50 Cent Selling 957,000 Copies …. etc
Then like a typical 2000 Florida saga, 50 cent crying foul — “Rigging”.
West’s “Graduation” sold 957,000 copies, easily surpassing the 691,000 copies sold by “Curtis,” according to Nielsen SoundScan. West’s total is the highest first-week sales for an album in more than two years, when 50 Cent’s sophomore effort, “The Massacre,” opened with 1.1 million copies in March 2005, the last album to reach the seven-figure mark.
I guess 50 Cent might want to reconsider his earlier statement that he will retire if he lost to Kanye West. Lets wait and see what happens in their second week sales.
