Falou Jifa Breaks Gambian Music Market
Falou Jifa, one of the new entrants in Senegalese mbalax scene is currently in town as part of a promotional drive to break the Gambian music market.
Speaking to this paper, Falou Jifa said that the purpose of his visit is to promote his six-track album entitled Banlieu in the Gambia, adding that the album is already making waves in Senegal.
According to him he has presented the video clip of the album to GRTS as well as the audio cassette of the album to West Coast and City Limits Radio stations respectively.
He said “I will be visiting the Gambia just after Koriteh during which I planned to stage series of concerts to entertain my fans”.
He thanked Lamin Manga, Amie Cherry, Peter Gomez and Ansumana Drammeh as well as his family in the Gambia for their support. “They have definitely helped me to introduce my album in this country,” he posited.
Falou Jifa started music in 1998 as solo artist. He was backed by the DLC band and Coumba Gawlo’s musicians to produce his debut album in 2006.
