Two Strikes for 2face
2face Idibia, the award-winning Nigerian artiste has reached a point in his life and career that could be described as mid-life crisis.
Recently he was nominated and awarded at the Music of Black Origin Awards ceremony in London. As fate would have it, as he received his award on stage, it fell and broke in two.
Ok so that might have gotten replaced, but it could well have been a sign of the worst ahead. 2face was supposedly shot eighteen times in his thighs by a gang of robbers in Nigeria.
On Friday when Joy FM spoke to representatives of 100 Degrees, the event organizers, they pulled blanks, which was a major faux pas on their part. They could have just been honest and asked people to come celebrate 2face’s life instead.
Because at the time almost everybody knew he had been shot. This is the second time Idibia has been attacked by robbers, the last incident happened in his house! He didn’t loose anything serious just a few cell phones and some money.
Somebody might be sending him a message obviously because these people-whoever they are could have killed him. But they didn’t.
But why would anyone have it in for 2face? It’s hard to think that a character like 2face has enemies who would resort to this kind of violence to make a point. Good to know he’s still alive- this is enough to inspire a new single that will ride on pity and the cold sorrow he well describes in his songs. Everyone is waiting to see how this one will unfold, anything other than 2face recovering wouldn’t be very good news.
The rumour mill is already bubbling with strange tales, each one pitching an explanation with all kinds of attached mystery.
On the other hand his current album just might blow the charts out across the continent and garner some good will. All of that which translates into beaucoup cash.
