Artistes Sing for United Celestial Church

Prominent gospel singers within the Celestial church have called on leaders and members to build a unified church.

Leading the pack, Remi Olabanji sang that the church should try and return to its former path of a unifed church just like it was, during the days of the founder, Late Samuel Bilewu Oshoffa.

Joining him to kickstart the unification of the church, the singers who were said to be united all the while, were elderly singers like the director of music, worldwide, Wole Adetiran; Imole Ayo Gospel singer, Akin Adebayo and Femi Opalemo; a band member of Late Roland Olomola’s group. Others were Gbenga Oluwafimise Ilori; and Rotimi Olaosebikan, the deputy director of music, worldwide.

The venue was Celestial City, Imeko, Ogun state during the musical concert organized by the church in continuation of its 60th founder’s day anniversary.

It would be recalled that after the demise of the founder the church has been enmeshed in a leadership battle with many claiming to be the one ordained to take over from Oshoffa.

Also worthy of note was a statement by Superior Evangelist Samson Banjo who said the “Church remained one without no crisis and division” during a symposium organized by the Church two weeks ago at Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos as part of the anniversary celebration.

But that claim was punctured in Imeko when the singers who are also members of the church started singing and calling for unity, peace, oneness, mutual love and a united church just like in the time of the founder.

During the concert other singers charged the atmosphere with their songs but when it was Femi Opalemo’s turn to sing, he sang there is no love lost between the leaders but he will not sing about it right there in Imeko.

Rather he disclosed that he would do a cassette on the issue “because I am not bold enough to sing on that issue here”, he said. With the coming on stage of an elderly and bold no nonsense Remi Olabanji, he sang that “there is no love in the church any more since the demise of Oshoffa, and thereby called on the church leadership “to forget about self ambition, self ego and craze for position” to come together and forge a platform that will bring love and unity to the church.

As Remi Olabanj was hailed to continue the homily where he sued for love and a unified Celestial Church, he called on all other singers who together prayed for “love, oneness, unity, peace and tranquility” to return to the church manifold.

However, young Femi Opalemo, who had variously waxed cassettes with the late popular Celestial Church gospel singer, Roland Olomola (Baba Ara) reminded the older generation of singers that other Celestial Church singers like mama Omodudu from Akure, Seyi Alapanlan, Sola Allynson Obaniyi (Eji Owuro), Seyi Solagbade and Steve Pelemo (Bororo) should be remembered.
