Gab West Club Beats Odds
Grand West Nite Club in Gaborone West Phase One will be celebrating its sixth anniversary today.
Club owner and entertainment guru, Steve Raman has picked groups across the age divide and music genres to perform at the occasion. To add the icing on the cake, revellers do not have to pay to enjoy music of, among others, Ditaola traditional troupe, Slizer, The real Magosi and Ghavorr.
DJ Bobo, K-Nice and Fondo Fire will be behind the turntables. In an interview, the club marketing manager Emily Kalankane said the line-up caters for all and that the show which starts at 8pm is a thank to loyal patrons When the club opened six years ago, many people were skeptical whether it would last given its location.
The area is said to be a high crime neighbourhood frequented by ladies of the night But revellers have fallen in love with the spot despite the negative label.
Since opening its doors it has become irresistible to Kwaito and RnB lovers who patronise it. Some of the clubs that opened after Grand West have failed the test of time.
The club does not only attract G West residents but night crawlers from different locations. It has also hosted both national and international stars.
Meanwhile, Satchmos will come alive on Friday and Saturday with live jazz music maestro Tsilo Baitsile, Jazz Impromptu and DJ P.K will be entertaining revellers.
